CODE OF ETHICS
The Cortona On The Move | BarTur Grant is committed to promoting integrity, respect, and accountability in documentary photography and photojournalism. All participants are required to adhere to the following ethical principles:
1. Accuracy and Truthfulness

Photographers must ensure their work reflects the truth of the scene and the context in which it was created.

Misrepresentation, staging, or significant manipulation of content is prohibited. Images must not distort reality or mislead viewers.
2. Respect for Subjects

Photographers must respect the dignity, privacy, and rights of all subjects.

Consent must be obtained where required, especially in sensitive situations or when individuals are identifiable.
3. Compliance with Legal and Access Permissions

Photographers must ensure they have the necessary permissions to capture and use images taken at restricted-access events, such as political or corporate settings.

Copyright laws must be respected, and photographers must secure the necessary rights for any intellectual property depicted in their images.
4. Integrity in Restricted-Access Photography

Images taken at restricted-access events must comply with the conditions of access.

Photographers must disclose the nature of their access (e.g., official credentials or specific permissions) when submitting work.
5. Prohibition of Exploitation

Images must not exploit or sensationalize subjects for commercial or personal gain.

Vulnerable individuals, including minors, must be treated with the utmost sensitivity and care.
6. Transparency and Honesty

Photographers must provide accurate captions, descriptions, and contextual information for their images.

The circumstances under which the photograph was taken must be truthfully represented, including any archival or restricted-access contexts.
7. Adherence to Competition Rules

All submissions must adhere to the competition’s rules, including those regarding authenticity, use of AI tools, and ethical editing.

Photographers are responsible for ensuring their work aligns with these guidelines and does not infringe on the rights of others.
8. Commitment to Accountability

Participants must take responsibility for their work and its impact. Any disputes regarding copyright, permissions, or ethical concerns will be the responsibility of the entrant.

The competition reserves the right to disqualify any work found to breach this code of ethics.
